Books and Novels
An art book that showcases the redesigned Rash, Zitz and Pimple in all their 90s-inspired glory, along with the rest of the cast from their 2020 revival and a bonus helping of vintage character work. Naturally, this tome also dives into unused concepts, characters and boss battles, explores the surreal landscapes of planets like Jercury 9, and celebrates Rare and Dlala’s reinvention of a classic series.
The second Sea of Thieves novel examines the origins of one of the game’s most notorious and mysterious villains: Captain Flameheart, in his prime as a merciless Skeleton Lord, and the untold story of his defeat. Working on this at the same time has the game allowed me to go wild interweaving story elements, and fleshing out the histories of some fan-favourite characters in surprising ways.
The third instalment of Gearbox’s sci-fi shooter series carries aspiring Vault Hunters away from the hostile desolation of Pandora and into the wider cosmos for the first time, meaning there are plenty of gorgeous alien worlds to explore. These, along with the a batch of trigger-happy mercenaries, their gadgets and their many, many guns are all chronicled in this comprehensive art book.
Stretching my wings into the worlds of parenting and education alongside Lyn Kendall, Mensa’s Gifted Child Consultant, to pen a practical handbook that looks at both the ups and downs of being born with a high IQ, and ways to ensure young bright sparks grow up to become well-adjusted adults.
Set in the world of Sea of Thieves, Rare’s essential pirate experience for Xbox One and Windows 10, Athena’s Fortune chronicles the twin tales of the first pirates to ever reach that treacherous region, as well as a ferocious newcomer determined to become a pirate legend. Courtesy of Amazon, you can see a sample of the book’s opening chapter here.
While the art is unquestionably the star of this gorgeous volume, it was also an opportunity to chronicle the game’s development through the many snippets of text found within.
Tales from the Sea of Thieves (2018, Titan Books) – Additional Content
I was lucky to work alongside the superbly talented team at Titan Books on this lore book, offering notes and guidance to author Paul Davies while sneaking in some poems and passages of my own.
